Jesus and the Nervous System

Jesus and the Nervous System

Jesus and the Nervous System

Biblical examples of regulation and rest

Jesus modeled regulation long before neuroscience named it.

He withdrew from crowds. He rested. He slept. He noticed when His body and spirit needed solitude. He did not heal endlessly without pause.

When overwhelmed, He stepped away. When grief hit, He wept. When exhausted, He rested.

These were not signs of weakness or lack of faith. They were expressions of wisdom and embodiment.

Faith was never meant to bypass the body. God created the nervous system with limits and rhythms.

Rest, retreat, and connection were part of Jesus’ ministry, not breaks from it.

If Jesus honored His limits, you are allowed to honor yours.

When Your Thoughts Are Loud and God Feels Distant

When Your Thoughts Are Loud and God Feels Distant

When Your Thoughts Are Loud and God Feels Distant

Sometimes the loudest thing in the room is your mind.

You try to pray, but your thoughts won’t stay still.
Then, you open your Bible, but nothing sinks in.
You sit in the quiet, but it doesn’t feel peaceful—it feels empty.

And somewhere in the mess of mental noise, you begin to wonder:

Where is God? Why can’t I feel Him right now?

You’re Not Broken. You’re Human

When your thoughts are loud, racing, scattered, or intrusive, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed spiritually.
It might mean:

  • You’re overwhelmed

  • And exhausted

  • You’ve been living in survival mode

  • Your nervous system is activated and you can’t find stillness

This is not a lack of faith.

It’s a sign you need compassion not condemnation.

Faith Doesn’t Depend on Feelings

Your emotional experience does not measure the presence of God. He isn’t waiting for you to feel better to show up.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
—Psalm 34:18

Even when your thoughts are too loud to hear Him. He is still near.

How to Quiet the Noise (Even Just a Little)

You don’t have to force silence. You can begin with slowing.

Try one of these today:

  • Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6

  • Speak the name of Jesus out loud—slowly, again and again

  • Listen to worship music instead of fighting for words

  • Journal one raw sentence: “God, today I feel…”

  • Go for a walk and notice one thing you see, hear, smell, and feel

These are not just coping tools. They’re invitations to reenter God’s presence gently.

Don’t Wait to Feel Holy to Reach for Him

God isn’t scared of your mess. He doesn’t need you to have the perfect words or peaceful thoughts.
He just wants you.

And He already promised—He will never leave.

Faith Journey, Medical, Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome

New Beginnings: The End of One Chapter, the Start of Another

stay inspired. never stop creating. (5)

New beginnings.

They carry a quiet kind of hope—soft, steady, and full of promise. Today is the last day of June, and with it comes a shift. This is the final post I will write about our journey with Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS). It’s not the end of the story, but it is the closing of a long and winding chapter—one that has shaped us in more ways than I can count.

Eight years ago, our lives were forever changed when my son was diagnosed with OMS. Everything I thought I knew about parenting, about faith, about strength—was redefined in those early days of chaos and uncertainty. We were thrown into a world of specialists, treatments, therapies, and questions with no easy answers. But through it all, one thing remained constant: God’s faithfulness.

There were moments I didn’t think I could keep going. Moments of fear so deep, it took my breath away. But my son—my precious warrior—kept fighting. And because he never gave up, neither did I.

Today, he is alive. That alone is a miracle and testimony to God’s mercy and power. He still has struggles, and we don’t know what his future holds. But we rest in this truth:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”
—Jeremiah 29:11

We cling to that promise. God has a plan for my son—a plan far greater than anything we could imagine. And so we move forward with hope.

I pray that as you’ve read these posts, you’ve learned something new—not just about OMS, but about compassion. If you ever see a parent struggling with a child’s behavior, please pause before judging. You never know the battles being fought behind tired eyes and brave smiles. Offer grace. Show kindness. Pray for them.

I also pray you’ve seen my heart through this journey. God’s goodness broke and rebuilt my heart. A heart that never stopped hoping—even when the world said there was none.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
—Hebrews 10:23

My son is more than a diagnosis. He is a living, breathing miracle. A warrior. And one day, I believe his test will become a powerful TESTimony—pointing others straight to Jesus.

This is not the end. It’s just the beginning of something new. A new chapter filled with purpose, promise, and hope.

To God be the glory. Always.

The Crimson Thread in Your Tapestry

The Crimson Thread in Your Tapestry

The Crimson Thread in Your Tapestry

Over the course of life, there are moments when a crimson thread weaves itself into the beautiful tapestry that is being created. This thread represents the trials and struggles that seek to disrupt joy and peace. 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us to stay alert because challenges come in many forms, often attempting to shake faith and hope.

A wise person once shared that happiness is based on circumstances, but true joy comes from the Lord. As Psalm 30:5b states, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” This perspective can transform how struggles are viewed—not as insurmountable obstacles, but as opportunities to lean into faith and trust.

The Battle Between Happiness and Joy

Understanding the difference between happiness and joy can bring clarity to difficult seasons. Happiness is fleeting and tied to external circumstances, while joy is rooted in the unchanging nature of God’s promises. Even in the darkest moments, joy remains available through faith, serving as an anchor in turbulent times.

Psalm 121:7-8 reassures, “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go both now and forever.” Even when circumstances seem overwhelming, He is present, protecting and guiding through the storm.

Holding On to Hope

Life brings unexpected challenges, and sometimes it feels as though the crimson thread is overpowering the tapestry. Yet, even in uncertainty, God is always working. The call to “hold on” is not just a suggestion but a lifeline. Romans 4:18-21 speaks of Abraham’s unwavering faith, reminding that hope is never in vain.

Encouragement often comes in unexpected ways—through Scripture, through others, or even through a simple yet profound message: “Hold on.” This message may be a direct reminder that faith and perseverance will lead to restoration and renewal.

The Unseen Hand at Work

Looking back on difficult seasons, it becomes evident that God was always present, weaving together a masterpiece from what once seemed broken. Job 38:11 states, “I said, ‘This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’” There is comfort in knowing that no trial is beyond God’s control.

Though storms may rage and uncertainty may loom, the promise remains: “He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you” (Isaiah 30:19b). Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds that “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Trusting in His perfect timing brings peace, even when the full picture is not yet visible.

A Tapestry of Faith

Every struggle, every victory, every moment of doubt, and every renewal of faith contributes to the intricate design of life’s tapestry. No matter how overwhelming the crimson thread may seem, it is but one part of a much larger picture—one that God is crafting with love, purpose, and grace.

Faith reassures that even when the path is unclear, the One who holds the threads sees the masterpiece in its entirety. Trust in Him, hold on to hope, and find joy in the journey, knowing that He is always present, always faithful, and always good.
