7 Verses to Read When You Feel Like Giving Up

A Scripture a Day for the Struggling Soul

When the weight of life feels unbearable and you wonder if you can keep going, God’s Word can be a steady anchor. Scripture reminds us of truth when our hearts feel heavy, and it speaks hope into places that feel hopeless.

Here are seven verses. There is one for each day of the week. Each is paired with reflections and affirmations for the struggling soul.

Day 1 – Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Reflection: You are not alone in your pain. God draws near to you in your darkest moments.
Affirmation: Even in my brokenness, God is with me and will not let me go.

Day 2 – Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.”

Reflection: Fear and despair may whisper lies, but God promises His strength will carry you.
Affirmation: I don’t have to do this alone. God’s strength sustains me.

Day 3 – Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Reflection: When life feels overwhelming, Jesus offers you rest and peace.
Affirmation: I can lay my burdens down and rest in God’s care.

Day 4 – Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Reflection: Your story is not over. God’s plans hold hope, even if you can’t see it yet.
Affirmation: My future is filled with hope because God holds it in His hands.

Day 5 – 2 Corinthians 12:9

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Reflection: Weakness is not failure. God’s grace covers you and His power shines through your cracks.
Affirmation: God’s grace is enough for me today.

Day 6 – Romans 8:38-39

“Nothing…will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Reflection: No pain, no fear, no struggle can pull you away from God’s unshakable love.
Affirmation: I am deeply loved, always and forever, by God.

Day 7 – Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Reflection: In times of trouble, God is not distant. He is your safe place and your strength.
Affirmation: God is my refuge, and I can lean on Him when I feel weak.

A Final Word

If you are struggling with thoughts of giving up, hold onto this truth: your life has immeasurable worth, and God is not finished with your story.
